Why take a Selfie

This write up won’t be complete without mentioning the Award winning queen of selfie…. Kim Kardashian West and now, she is officially recognized.
Now what is a selfie?
According to Wikipedia a selfie is a self-portrait photograph typically taken with a digital camera or a camera phone held in the hand or supported by a selfie stick. They are often shared across social networking sites, flattering and are made to appear casual.

Analytical Analysis
The art of the selfie is a high language across the digital minds of today and it will be awesome to discuss it on this blog. I once heard of a joke of the Israelites in the good book if they were familiar with the tech of our time will be taking selfies by the red sea and tagging Pharaoh on the phone during the
dividing of the sea. With hash tag “selfie things”.
The sales of the selfie stick has been making waves across our markets, as it makes taking selfies easy. There are toilet selfies, street selfies, taking selfies beside an accident scene etc. But the coolest thing about selfies is that the word was officially added to the English dictionary in 2013, and it is still the most used word across social media. Although I had dreamt of writing a song titled “selfie”, someone had already beat me to it. (Yeah! I do some song write ups, bathroom singing and mix tapes) and I couldn’t help laughing when someone sent in a selfie for eyewitness reporting or citizens journalism as some may call it, but in turn it is a great way to connect across cultures and for app designers to create new apps to enhance the selfie experience.
So my exploration got me across a TV series called selfie, haven’t officially watched it but when I do, y’all will surely know. I know I didn’t know that the first recorded official selfie was taken in space, until Wikipedia showed me. The picture was taken in 1966 by Buzz Aldrin, when the flash of the camera could literally blind you.

Pros
Selfies can make you learn more about yourself. The different faces you make or how your face will look like when you make a particular expression. Somebody once gave me an advice that if I want my passport photographs to come out cool, I should practice by taking more of selfies.
Cons

It’s quite addictive and if not checked can infringe on other peoples private affairs. For example taking a selfie in a crowded girls’ lavatory, you might be fully clothed, but others might not be. But there is also good news because phone apps are gradually being invented to remove unwanted photo bombers or tourists automatically from your picture when you take a selfie, and that’s one less job that the conventional Photoshop application will have to be dropped for.
